Julia Wynne Burton Reckner
Julia Wynne Burton Reckner, age 38, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones, on September 21, 2023 following a courageous 19-month battle with breast cancer. Julia was born May 10, 1985 to Donald Allen Burton and Marilyn Kahlo Burton in Lexington, KY. Julia's unbreakable spirit in the face of this devastating illness will never be forgotten by those who knew her as she bravely faced each symptom, treatment, and set back with unwavering determination and courage in order to have more time with her loved ones.
Julia was a 2003 graduate of Dunbar High School and obtained B.S. degrees in Merchandising, Apparel & Textiles from the University of Kentucky and in Marketing from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Julia had a passion for merchandising, fashion, crafting, and quilting.
She married Justin Andrew Reckner on May 12, 2012 and together they had two wonderful children. After marriage, Julia and Justin moved to Germany where they lived for over a decade and built a life together. During her time in Germany, Julia pursued interests in travel, teaching others to quilt, and serving as a substitute teacher for the DoDEA Europe schools in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Julia will be remembered as the very best wife, mother, daughter, sister, and unrivaled friend. She was happiest when spending time with family and friends and cherished her children dearly. Julia made all of those around her feel loved and was an exceptionally selfless and generous person to the very end. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
