Tommie Lee (Tyson) Rhodman
Funeral Time: Tuesday, July 5th at 12:00PM
Tommie Rhodman, age 90, of Lexington, KY went home to be with the Lord June 27, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born August 6, 1931 in Harlan, Kentucky to the union of Thomas and Pearl Morton Tyson. Both parents preceded her in death.
She met and married the love of her life, Herbert Rhodman and shared 49 years of love and adventure as avid travelers. They were blessed to nurture and raise Ralph Hillman as their son.
The family migrated from Harlan Kentucky to Lexington, in 1949, where Tommie became a Nurse and served faithfully in that capacity until her retirement from the Lexington Veteran's Hospital in 1992.
A great joy for Tommie was found in her affiliation with the Doral's Social Civic Club of Lexington, where a bond of friendship was created with Wingate Cooper, one of the founding members. She also established a life-long friendship with Edith and George Wilson, both of whom she esteemed greatly for their unfailing support and concern for her wellbeing.
Tommie's greatest wish was to remain independent and to live in Lexington for all of her days. Even when it became difficult to live alone year-round or travel to her Church, (First Baptist Church, Bracktown), She did not lose her indomitable spirit of joy and laughter.
Her heart and doors were open to love, to comfort and to help many family members, friends and even strangers. She believed and lived her life according to what Jesus said, “What you have done for the least of Mine, you do also for Me”.
She was preceded in death by Her husband of 49 years, Herbert Rhodman, 3 sisters; Clemmie Totty, Leola Walker and Ruby Rembert, 4 brothers; Robert Tyson, Willie Tyson, Edward Tyson, and Renny (RJ) Tyson.
Tommie leaves to cherish her memories, Ralph Hillman (Rita), Beloved Sister-in-Law, Lorene Tyson, Special Niece, Carmen Henderson, a host of Nieces, Nephews, family and friends.
