Doris J. Scholl
Funeral Time: Friday, June 24th at 12:30PM
Doris J. Scholl, 91, awoke in Glory on June 16, 2022. She was born June 24, 1930, in Lexington KY to Newman M. and Pearl Sampsell Elliott. Doris was a stay-at-home mom with 4 children, till age 36 when she went back to school at UK’s Lexington Technical Institute and got her degree in nursing. She spent most of her career in the mental health industry. Doris was multi-talented, she loved to find an inexpensive antique and refinish it, she painted, she wrote short stories, documented our family ancestry, learned the art of stained glass and made some gorgeous pieces. She was a devout Christian and loved God. She and her husband Tom were long standing members at Calvary Baptist Church in Lexington where they both, sang in the choir, and she taught numerous Sunday School Classes. They devoted much of their time to many activities at the church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Donald, two sons, David Elliott Neal and J. Allen Neal, Jr. and her beloved husband of 42 years, F. Thomas Scholl. She is survived by one son Joseph D. Neal, two daughters, Davey Anne and Andrea Lynn Neal, 3 step-children, Cheri Houston, Tom, Jr. and Kenny Scholl, six grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Harrodsburg Rd., on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. with the funeral following at 12:30 p.m., entombment will follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of the Bluegrass, or Calvary Baptist Church.
