LeRoy Moore, Jr.
Funeral Time: Monday, October 18th at 6:30PM
LeRoy Moore Jr., 67, passed away at his home in Lexington, KY on October 12th, 2021, while surrounded by family. He was a native of Savannah, Georgia where he was born on July 28th, 1954 to his parents LeRoy Moore Sr. & Ann L. Moore (Mongin). He was most affectionately known as Roy, Son, Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, & Friend. He is preceded in death by his parents & many loved ones. He is survived by his faithful & adored wife of 46 years, Debra Moore (Windle), 3 loving children, Ashley Mercer (Daniel) of Lexington, KY, Jonathan Moore (Nicole) of Jacksonville, FL & Katelyn Shaffer (Chance) of St. Louis, MO along with 8 beloved grandchildren who were his pride & joy. He is also survived by Brother Chuck (Lynn), Brother Steve (Valerie) & Sister Georgia Thompson, all of Savannah, GA.
He lived his life primarily in Savannah, Georgia where he & his wife raised their family. He was president of the Home Builders Association & helped run Moore Homes with his parents. He developed several residential sites in the area. He also helped complete construction of The Sanctuary of Savannah church where he & his family faithfully attended for over 20+ years. He also completed Hurricane relief & restoration throughout the Southeast. He had many gifts & talents, including being an avid gardener, a lover of fishing & catering incredible food. In his later years he attended culinary school &completed a life goal of becoming a Professional chef. His greatest gift was his love for food & expertise in the kitchen to serve & bless others in need & in want, but most of all, for his family & friends.
He will be greatly missed by many, but those who remain here on Earth know he has been made whole through his faith in Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:1-For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
Visitation to be held Monday October 18th, 2021 from 5:30-6:30pm followed immediately by a Celebration of Life at 6:30pm; both will take place at The Sanctuary Of Savannah, 8912 Whitfield Avenue, Savannah, GA 31405. Private Burial will be held separately for family only.
