Charles H. Hill

Charles H. Hill, 93, widower of Fanny Ruth Roberts Hill, died Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Born in Harrison County, KY, January 19, 1928, he was the son of the late Myrtle and Fred Hill. Charles served in the Marines from 1945-1949, and in the Marine Reserves from 1950-1951. He was a member of United Sheet Metal Workers Union and worked as a shop foreman and Job Superintendent until a disability in 1980. He spent many years as a volunteer at both Central Baptist Hospital and the Central KY Blood Center. He enjoyed refinishing furniture; visiting with his lifelong friends and neighbors, especially Betty Dodd; grilling; making homemade ice cream; and interacting with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. It’s been said that “Charlie never met a stranger!” He was a member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include his only child, Vaughn (Carol) Roberts Hill; two grandchildren, Grace (Morgan) Hill Dillow and Ross (Griffin) Chandler Hill; three great grandchildren, Jackson Vaughn Dillow, Charlotte Grace Dillow and Sullivan Wilder Hill. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his six siblings, Parker, Frazier, Bill, Louise, Garnetta, and Nanny Lou. Special thanks to Angelia Reddick, his caregiver for the last six years. Funeral services will be 12:30 pm Friday, April 9 at Kerr Brothers – Harrodsburg Road. Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:30 am until the service time at the funeral home. Hunter Mobley, a former Pastor at Christ Church-Nashville and beloved family member will be officiating.
