Artie Drue Ella Rookard
Funeral Time: Monday, October 14th at 12:30PM
Artie Drue Ella Rookard, 95, of Nicholasville, KY passed away Tuesday October 8, 2019, at Mayfair Manor. Born in East Fork, Bath County KY, she was the daughter of the late Kirby S. Routt and Lydia A. Routt. Artie was a retired beautician having owned and managed a successful salon for many years in Lexington. She had a true following of clients which allowed her to work into her 80's. Artie was instrumental in the creation of the Bluegrass School for Special Needs children. She diligently worked and helped those with Special Needs and their families. She was a faithful and active member of Anchor Baptist Church and a former member of Trinity Baptist church. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Artie dedicated her life to her faith and family which included caring for her son, Arthur William and a special friend, Ronnie Pugh. She is survived by son, Paul (Jo Ellen) Rookard of Nicholasville; three grandchildren, Phil (Melissa) Slye of Maryland, Kelsea (Brooks) Fitzpatrick of Lexington, Victoria Rookard of Nicholasville; and two great grandchildren, Alyssa and Austin Slye. Artie is also survived by one brother, Noah W. Routt of Georgetown, KY. Many thanks to a special, caring and very helpful friend, Beth Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. Rookard, Sr.; son, Arthur W. Rookard, Jr.; and seven brothers and sisters. Visitation 11:30 am and funeral service 12:30 pm on Monday, October 14 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home Harrodsburg Road.
